Volunteer Programs

Direct Service Volunteers

Direct service volunteers are assigned to a variety of services/programs throughout Fairhaven, including:

  • physiotherapy
  • meal-time assitance
  • refreshment cart
  • recreation activities
  • resident computer support
  • friendly visiting
  • bible study
  • hymn sing
  • special events
  • Cafe
  • hairdressing salon
  • portering
  • East Central Therapy Dogs

Grandpal Program

Students from Adam Scott C.V.I. are matched one-to-one with residents from Fairhaven each September in this intergenerational program.  Each pair of Grandpals plans weekly visits to suit their individual interests and routines.  Lasting friendships, intergenerational learning, and understanding are common outcomes of this program.

Auxiliary

The Fairhaven Auxiliary was formed in 1960.  The Auxiliary's main fundraising efforts include proceeds from:

  • The Cafe
  • Fall Tea & Bazaar
  • Spring & Christmas Bazaars
  • Raffles & Draws

Fairhaven Foundation

Fairhaven Foundation is a charitable foundation dedicated to acquiring and managing donations for the purpose of advancing the mission of Fairhaven and its role in the community.  Volunteers play a vital role in this mission.  For more information, please see the Fairhaven Foundation section.

Teen Summer Volunteer Program

The Teen Program operates during July and August and involves between 25 and 30 teens.  Teens must be 13 years of age or older to participate.  A parental/ guardian consent form is required.  Placements include the Cafe, the refreshment cart, recreation activities, or physiotherapy.
