Dream of Garden Shelter
Coming True!
With
support from the Fairhaven Foundation, Gerald Cole's dream of
a garden shelter at Fairhaven is soon to become a reality. The
builder has the building permit and materials at hand to start
work Tuesday' August 24.
The
structure (based on the picture shown above), will be built in
the Westview 2 secured garden. This means that the garden will
be closed between August 24 and September 21 to protect residents,
family and staff from construction hazards during the project.
What an exciting project!
Blanket Warmer - New
at Fairhaven!
Representatives
of the Royal Canadian Legion gathered for a cheque presentation
at Fairhaven on July 23, 2010 for the purchase of an electric
blanket warmer. Nursing Managers are quite excited about being
able to offer this new comfort to residents and look forward to
cooler weather when the warm blanket program will get into full
swing.
Pictured
below are those taking part in the presentation. In front, from
the left, is Anne Florence, Nurse Manager; Adeline Levine and
Elwin Short Fairhaven residents, and in the back row is Wendy
Smith, Nurse Manager; Sheila Davidson, 2nd Vice President and
Poppy Trust Chairwoman; Joy L. Husak, Fairhaven Executive Director;
and Fred Rathburn, President Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 52.
Fairhaven
received $4,900 from the Royal
Canadian Legion by applying to a special province-wide program
funded with monies collected during the poppy campaign. Fairhaven
is most appreciative of this opportunity because so many of the
Home's residents are veterans or had spouses who were veterans.

are still coming in from participants and corporate pledges.
