Director Resident Care

Fairhaven, established in 1960, is a 256 bed, long-term care home jointly owned by the municipalities of the City and County of Peterborough.  As the needs of the community have changed, Fairhaven has responded by expanding its scope and reaching out to serve the continuum of needs in the long-term care sector to individuals of all ages.  Our compassionate attitude is reflected in our Mission Statement “Committed to enhancing the quality of life in a caring and safe environment.” We value respect, dignity, teamwork, partnerships and resident focused care. The Director of Resident Care’s role is part of an interdisciplinary senior management team and reports to the Executive Director.  

We are seeking a dynamic, results-oriented professional who demonstrates a creative and collaborative management style. You will be responsible for providing innovative leadership in the delivery of high quality resident care. The scope of this role encompasses effective management of financial and human resources, overseeing resident care through the departments of nursing and personal care, program development collaboration, management of Programs Support Services, and Family and Client Relations program, plus liaising with residents, family members, staff, volunteers and visitors.  

 Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse (Bachelor of Science in Nursing required)
  • Minimum 5 years long-term care management/leadership experience
  • You demonstrate an understanding and commitment to a resident focused care philosophy, combined with the skill in clinical operations, Accreditation process, quality and risk management, policy creation, new strategies and procedures development and implementation
  • You have strong management skills with demonstrated leadership ability
  • You demonstrate effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • You are an effective decision maker, negotiator, and facilitator with the ability to nurture a cooperative work environment
  • Computer application efficiency in Point Click Care , RAI, Excel, Word, and Outlook Express 
  • You have knowledge and experience in managing nursing and personal care and Programs Support Services that meet the requirements of The Long-Term Care Homes Act, and government legislation.
