Peterborough, ON – August 15, 2012

A new art gallery recently opened at Fairhaven.   Located on the main level to the right of the main entrance, visitors enter through the vine-covered pillar to enjoy the many different art forms that fill the gallery with colour and design.  The work of 20 local artisans is on display including Howard Berry, Barb Holz, Carol Rutherford, and Emil Varga.  In addition to original paintings and photography, jewellery, soapstone carvings, woodturning, pottery, and fabric art are exhibited and available for purchase.  Thanks to all of the artisans for supporting the Fairhaven Foundation through sales of their work.

Fairhaven is a long-term care facility where 256 residents call “home”.  As Peterborough’s only non-profit municipal home, Fairhaven has been providing quality care to residents for over 50 years.  In 2003, the current building was opened, with such special features as a designated care area for those residents with dementia, a tranquil worship centre, 2 secure outdoor garden areas, hairdressing salon, and café.  The Fairhaven Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to enriching the quality of life of residents by supporting programs and services that are not covered by government funding alone.

The name ‘Link Gallery’ was chosen as this hallway was the link between the old and new home.  It was through this corridor that the residents entered the new building in 2003.  If you are looking for a unique and special gift, consider an item from the Gallery.  Prices begin as low as $15.00.  Visitors to the Gallery are welcome.
